Hello to all of Alistair’s fans, the Alistair Hulett Memorial Trust (UK) and Fund (AU) have in the past few weeks been collaborating with a newly forming web development company in the UK to overhaul Alistair’s presence on the web. This new website displays Alistair’s life, music, ideals and principles off to a new degree not seen before online. Over the coming months we can only imagine that the content within this new website will grow and grow.

Alistair lent me his PA system at Marxism 2007 when I performed PB Shelley’s great masterpiece of political protest The Mask of Anarchy with guitar accompanist Chris Ayliffe at the SOAS Student Union.
I share Alistair’s and Fatima’s revolutionary socialist politics. I started playing music back in the late 1980’s in Irish sessions in Lewisham, South London. I now play a number of instruments including the bones, bodhrán, low whistle and uilleann pipes. Recently I have been learning guitar in the open D tuning style of the great Richie Havens.
This has allowed me into many of the songs I was singing accapella or with accompaniment. Having just passed my 60th birthday a number of gigs are opening up. It’s great fun too! Many of the songs I sing are in the tradition of love, struggle and resistance eg Victor Jara of Chile, who is also my greatest inspiration.
I had been in email contact with Alistair regarding some form of collaboration, possibly around the Shelley performance. It would be good to find musicians. poets, singers, drama performers etc who might be interested in doing something.
Meanwhile, I’d like to be involved in some way with the Alistair Hulett Trust from my home here in Torrington, North Devon. He was and is an inspiration to sing out the songs which challenge the ruling ideas and move the listeners, perhaps even to become active!
