The Low Tide Drifters, a radical folk band from Oregon, are to record “Destitution Road”, Alistair’s powerful and moving song about the tragedy of the Highland Clearances in the 18th century. The group have been featuring the song in their concerts for some time.

The Low Tide Drifters are well worth checking out; to quote from their website “With a host of traditional instruments and carefully crafted lyrics, the Low Tide Drifters create original roots-based songs that reflect the struggles of working people in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Influenced by Woody Guthrie, Utah Phillips, Pete Seeger, and other socially conscious folksingers from all over the world, they bring a respect for the past and concern for the future to their music.
