The 2014 Award was won by Miriam Jones for her song, “Post Post Feminist Revolution”. The winner was announced at the closing concert of the National Folk Festival in Canberra on 21 April 2014 and the judges made the following comments:

“We were very pleased this year that entries to the 2014 Songs for Social Justice Award came from right across Australia and tackled a wide range of social justice themes. Our judges were unanimous in recommending that the 2014 Award goes to songwriter Miriam Jones for her song “Post Post-Feminist Revolution”. The judges liked her contemporary take on a long-standing issue of social justice — equality for women. While Mim’s song uses humour, it also has a clear social justice message which is what the Alistair Hulett Award encourages. Mim reminds us the feminist movement hasn’t finished its job in Australia, as some people would have us believe, and struggles for social justice and equality go on.”

Entries are now invited for the 2015 Songs for Social Justice Award, with the closing date for submissions being 31 December 2014
